1965: Pinch-hitting for teammate Frank Robinson, a future Hall of Famer who will end career with 586 HRs, rookie OF Art Shamsky (Cincinnati Reds) hits first MLB home run, a 2-run shot. Reds go on to win 9-4 over New York Mets, a team that will trade for Shamsky in 1967
1951: Philadelphia Athletics are down 3-1 with 2 outs in 9th inning when pinch-hitter Lou Limmer comes to plate to face Detroit Tigers starter Saul Rogovin. With Tigers C Joe Ginsberg watching from behind plate, Limmer lofts 2-run HR to tie game, but Tigers go on to prevail 5-4 in 10 innings.
